@kailed1971 yes, I'm using thumbleweed as well and have the same issue with kdenlive installed via yast (or zypper if you want).
If you use the AppImage from kdenlive.org you should no longer face this problem, only the one described here

Uhmm.. right ! Cpu at 90% but it use 25% of cpu while doing nothing... :|

Changing Settings->Configure->Environment->Processing threads, make things worse.. strange..

Thanks for the info !

Hello guys

Registered just to try to help you

I Had the same problem: openSUSE Tumbleweed + Kdenlive = single thread rendering

What fixed for me was removing package frei0r-plugins.
(zypper remove frei0r-plugins)

Found the above suggestion here - https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread. ... n-kdenlive

Well, for me, using 1 core against 6 cores was even worst, hahaha

I have a Leap 42.3 installation that is working with frei0r-plugins... I just checked that frei0r-plugins package on LEAP 42.3 is almost one year newer than frei0r-plugins on Tumbleweed. I bet that someone released an older package for Tumbleweed that is affecting us now... I remember using kdenlive in the past and not having those problems... Or perhaps Kdenlive is having trouble to use the older package.

frei0r ... again =.= I just had an issue with frei0r and the NVidia driver cause kdenlive not to render any video and just stops with an fatal error.
Then they fixed it ... and now its frei0r again :(

Well ... okay, I will miss some effect though, but I think I need to deal with it.

Oh and, something I tested today was rendering a video with H265 ... 60 - 89% CPU usage but the render time reamains the same x.x
I'm relay confused now.

But thanks for the hint =)

Yeah ! Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't work on me. The CPU load is only 150% instead of 800%.
