3 computers running Linux Mint 17. This problem only occurs one one of them. Kdenlive renders the video OK, however on one of the computers it seems to be rendering the file to some unknown location and then copying it to the target folder after rendering is completed. This adds another 5-10 minutes to the rendering time depending on the size of the file and also slows the system down considerably during the copy. This can be observed by opening up the target folder. On the two machines that are working properly you can see the video file growing as it renders. On the problem machine, it sets a small ~400k file in the target, renders to someplace and then you can see the file being copied to the target after rendering is completed.. Other than that the video comes out OK. All 3 computers are HP laptops with AMD processors. The only difference is the properly working machines have Linux Mint Mate 17.1 and the problem one has Linux Mint Mate 17.3. I suspect this is a configuration issue and holding off on upgrading the 17.1 machines until this problem is solved. I've opened up the script and mlt files and all of the paths and targets are correct. Also looked in the /tmp and .cache folders for the temporary file and it is not appearing there. The videos come out as they should but it really slows down work flow.

I had this issue with an earlier version of Mint. After a lot of research I found my issue to come from a 3rd party PPA, which updated a Kdenlive dependency which threw things out.

was it the Sunab repository? I always had good luck with that PPA but earlier today an upgrade to melt came thru and caused the problem to occur on one of the machines what was working correctly. Removing the repository, doing a full uninstall of melt (which also forced removal of kdenlive) and then reinstalling them together from the default linux mint repo seems to have corrected the problem. The melt version labelled git 0.9.3 seems to be the trouble maker. Hopefully the operator of Sunab will read this forum and correct the problem.
