Ever since after upgrading Xubuntu to version 16.04 LTS, I have been having problems attempting to do the rendering with Kdenlive. It says "waiting," but does not begin to render. I also ran Kdenlive using Konsole, and I saw the following messages:

Code: Select all
Skipped method "slotGotProgressInfo" : Type not registered with QtDBus in parameter list: MessageType
Skipped method "slotTimelineClipSelected" : Pointers are not supported: ClipItem*
Skipped method "slotTimelineClipSelected" : Pointers are not supported: ClipItem*
Unsupported return type 65 QPixmap in method "grab"
Unsupported return type 65 QPixmap in method "grab"

Have others experienced this, and does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

I also tried other video editing programs, but I don't think any of them are a great substitute for Kdenlive.

why don't you try KDENLiVE from Olivier Banus's PPA? here is how i did it: viewtopic.php?f=265&t=132572#p355992

Tonight, I was able to make Kdenlive work more properly. I downloaded it from the stable repository, and it seems to work fine now.

For a few days there, I was experimenting with the command-line utility called ffmpeg, with some success. However, using this program requires some trial and error. On the positive side, I notice that command-line programs rarely crash, even though they are not as user-friendly or attractive-looking. But I will continue to use Kdenlive again, now that the rendering seems to work more properly again.
