I am trying to render a new project in 16.12 (Archlinux) to mpeg4. Using any of the following profiles does not work and results in this message:
medium: [ ref=1, _mlt_properties_load=medium, __mlt_properties_load=medium ]

Tried this profiles:
Build in:
properties=x264-medium f=mp4 vcodec=libx264 acodec=aac g=120 crf=%quality ab=%audiobitrate+'k'

Own:
properties=x264-medium preset=fast f=mp4 vcodec=libx264 acodec=aac g=120 crf=24 ab=128k

properties=x264-medium preset=slow f=mp4 vcodec=libx264 acodec=aac g=120 crf=18 ab=128k

properties=x264-medium preset=slow f=mp4 vcodec=libx264 acodec=aac g=120 crf=24 ab=128k

Any ideas? Would be great to have this video for Christmas...

Seems MLT has to adapt to ffmpeg changes.
Try removing "properties=x264-medium"?

Removing the properties parameter did not help.

I worked around the problem by removing a Dissolve transition at the frame where the rendering stopped. Funny enough, rendering the same area alone works.
