It's quite simple. The video is about 1 minute 40 seconds long, but playback stops at about 30 seconds, while the slider keeps going. There's basically no video nor audio, but kdenlive seems to keep trying to decode what it obviously cannot.

Ffplay from the ffmpeg package has got the very same issue and, funnily enough, uploading the video to youtube produces exactly the same effect: it's cut at around 30 seconds. Yet, the camera can play it just fine and so does Sony Vegas 13 on Windows, which I eventually used to do some changes to the video before exporting it.

From the look of it it's some decoding bug/missing feature in a common library, but I'd need further assistance to help debug the issue, since time is a resource that I like the most lately.

If you can give me any hints about how to go from here, I'll gladly help. I can code too, if needed. :)

No idea what the problem is, but a workaround could be to transcode the clip (right click and find transcode) to a lossless format and then use it in kdenlive.

In my experience it is the container format. Preserving the streams but re-creating the container is much faster and worked so far for me:

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i bad.mts -c copy good.mts
