I've not used KDENLIVE for a while and upgraded to Opensuse Leap 42.2 recently so everything is pretty fresh.
KDENLIVE is 16.08.2 MLT is 6.2.0-5.3 (from Packman) When I try to render anything it aborts immediately with: "Rendering of /path/untitled.mp4 aborted, resulting video will probably be corrupted." I've tried various output formats too. If I save and trace the rendering script, the last message is: //STARTING RENDERING: false , false , "/usr/bin/melt6" , "atsc_1080p_30" , "avformat" , "-" , "/path/scripts/promotion_002.sh.mlt" , "/path/untitled.mp4" , () , ("properties=x264-medium", "f=mp4", "vcodec=libx264", "acodec=aac", "g=120", "crf=23", "ab=160k", "preset=faster", "threads=3", "real_time=-1") , 1709 , 2009 (I've chopped out the actual path because it's a bit long.) I notice there's a newer version of MLT but I can't find an RPM for it. Thanks for any help. |

If anyone has any ideas what I could try, I'd be very grateful. I really need to make some progress on this but I'm stuck.
Many thanks. |

Does your long path contain spaces or special characters? If yes try with simpler names (maybe use symlinks).
Same for your source clips paths. Isn't there a /path/untitled.mp4.log file? I believe there is an OpenSuse repo with latest Kdenlive/MLT versions? Else you may build MLT from sources... |

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've tried your suggestions. I moved the project, simplified it and reworked all the file paths to /home/user/tempvideo/... - no help. I've found an up-to-date RPM for MLT and installed it. - no help. I can find no log file. I've now created the simplest project. It has just a five second title clip. That won't render either. There's something fundamentally wrong here. I think the renderer is barely getting started but there's no useful diagnostic info. I edited the render script and put strace on the front on the render command but the output from that is quite short (393 lines) with no obvious errors in it. However, I'm not a developer so I can't be sure what should be there. I'm really keen to progress this! Thank you |

Are you using Packman to get Kdenlive? I know the version in the repo doesn't have all the codecs and that might be the issue...
