Hi,
i am using KDEnlive on two machines, one my PC, the other my notebook. Both machines use Archlinux LTS, the pC has a Nvidia-card for grtaphics, the notebook uses a INTEL HD-graphics integrated.

On both machines, i create desktop-recordings for my youtube-channel. I use ffmpeg and use the command
Code: Select all
ffmpeg -f x11grab -video_size 1920x1080 -framerate 12 -i $DISPLAY -vcodec libx264 -threads 0 name.mkv

to create the recordings, on the notebook only the resolution used is a bit smaller.
I have created videos with 25 images per seconed to double check this, but it leads to the same problem.

Now to the problem inside KDEnlive:
When i add such a video to the Project bin, it is loaded and everything works fine. I can put this video to the Timeline and it may happen that i can scroll the time bar and see what i have recorded. But directly or after a short working progress (cutting at the beginning and the end of the video), the view of the video gets disturbed by artefacts that make it impossible to see whats happening inside the video.

I could reproduce what to do to to get the video error and what to to to get it displayed correct:

I put the video into the project bin, then drop it on a track insied timeline. When i move the time bar to a position inside the video, not at the beginnin, somewhere in the middle, i get the error.
I can now navigate the time bar to the beginning of the video, and it shows a correct view. I can step through the video with the cursor-key, and it al looks OK.
When i do some editing (cutting a part from the beginning) and saving the project, after the restart of KDEnlive and opening the saved project, the error is visible also at the beginning of the video, and no correct view is reachable.

I am using KDEnlive 17.11.70, MLT 6.4.1 FFMPeg-libraries, KDE frameworks 5.40.0, QT 5.9.3. Edit: the ffmpeg is the version 3.4 from october 2017.

I am using the program mostly wit the MATE-desktop, but have double checked it using KDE, with the same problems

For me it looks as a problem with key-pictures inside the video and KDEnlive not using or creating key pictures when editing or rendering.

I have edited my last video on 19. of november, and all worked fine, don't know what parts got updated, if it was a library or KDEnlive its self.
The recorded video of 11/19 shows the same error now.

Thanks for your help

Hartmut

Edit: After updating to version 18.03.70 this problem is still the same...

Hallo Hartmut, have you tried a lossless recording codec? huffyuv or ffv1 (1/4 the size of huffyuv).
