Hello, I was working with a 4k 30 fps project with YUV color space. For timeline preview there is no 4k DnxHR profile so Kdenlive uses mpeg instead and it damages color space
So I have made one DnxHR profile (3840x2160 30fps)for myself. If you folks want to join it in Kden here is the string:

In terms of giving a man a fish, what does "r" mean?
In terms of teaching a man to fish, where can I find out for myself what "r" means? Thanks Ed |

In an attempt to teach myself to fish, I've found this: https://mltframework.org/plugins/ConsumerAvformat/#s. The page includes a(the?) list of mlt parameters. Now to find the list of suitable settings for these parameters.... |

This doesn't work and I'm not sure why. I keep getting errors like this: [NULL @ 0x767380] Unable to find a suitable output format for 'vcodec=dnxhd' vcodec=dnxhd: Invalid argument. What I've done is eliminate each parameter, one at a time -with the assumption that the offending parameter setting doesn't apply to the source clip for some reason and also with the assumption that by eliminating the parameter, ffmpeg will simply use the source clip parameter setting for the output. Eventually, the only thing left is the vcodec parameter and for some reason that kicks an error also. It seems fairly straightforward on one hand but perhaps the mlt/ffmpeg process is EXTREMELY particular and dnxhd is just unknown? I would love to find some sort of resource for navigating what seems to be a fairly mundane process in this day and age of dealing with 2.7k and 4k footage. Thanks, Ed |

I logged in to the Kdenlive forum to update one of my posts regarding a solution I'd just found on youtube for transcoding/converting video files for use in DaVinci Resolve. It appears the video is YOURS! (cgvirus). Just wanted to say THANKS I've been struggling with finding a useful solution, figured kdenlive would be easy enough but haven't gotten very far. Perhaps transcoding in Kdenlive isn't very popular? Anyways, in your video you used FF Multi Converter. I downloaded it and it is the solution I've been looking for. Once again, thank-you. Also, your step-by-step explanation through both ffmpeg and MLT versions was exactly what I needed. Nice work. Ed |
