I'm an inexperienced user trying to sort out the slow rendering problem, and as well, in case it may give a clue, a problem where if I add a title clip the playback in both the preview screen and the rendered video becomes very choppy as if it is skipping frames.

I looked for others with similar problems and found one guy who fixed it by upgrading the OS which I also did and am now on Ubuntu 19.04 and kdenlive 19.04.1. If anything, it is slower now than before and the degradation of the video after adding a title clip persists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 19.04.2e to see if there are any packaging issues https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/

If the problem/issue doesn't occur when using the AppImage, then it's your configuration or packaging.

19.04.2e solved some mlt rendering issues.
