I understand I am a real beginner here but I couldn't even get started. Thought I would open an existing mp4 video but kdenlive didn't recognize the file. Am I being stupid or is downloaded video in wrong format? A beginners hint would be appreciated.

OK I have managed to load a clip and using this is a bit like driving a big tractor... so many knobs and buttons but impressive.

What I want to do is add two clips. These overlap in the video sequence and I want to omit the overlapping part so they join seamlessly. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
