Hello,

I am new to Kdenlive and have come across an issue when I go to render my final project.

I am trying to render the video into an mp4 format and have tried messing with the settings from lowering the quality to other settings. It still does not work and always causes my pc to blue screen/crash. I have seen from previous threads that there have been issues on windows and wondering if there is an issue with the software or is my rig itself that is not capable. Also running the latest version of Kdenlive Version 19.12.3.

My computer specs below:
CPU = Intel i7-4790k 4ghz
Ram = 16 GB
OS = Windows
Graphics Card = Nvidia GTX 1060

Please let me know if there is a solution to this or if there is something I can do to prevent the crash. I am enjoying the software and would love to carry on using it.

Regards.

Make sure that settings -> environment -> all folders are pointing to the same base folder as "MLT profiles folder". Render -> disabling "parallel processing". Click more options -> top right, set Threaes to 0 (zero).

Same problem here (Mint 19.3, Kdenlive 19.12.3)
MP4 crashes immediately, mkv works sometimes.

Make sure you have disabled GPU acceleration.

I have the same problem, except on the second try the render completes successfully.

Video composition:
4x video tracks and 3x audio tracks
Video 4 exclusively used for Titles (using quite a lot of title and or horizontal scrolling text).
Audio 3 used for a wave file I synch my video track 1 & 2 to (my feeling is that this is the culprit for the crash although it should not cause a crash)
Video 1 and audio 1 for my main video 1080i/50
Video 2 used for effects like PiP etc.

Hardware:
    Asus Z87 Expert motherboard with i7-4770 quad processor
    8 Gig RAM
    onboard Intel graphics Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th
    Sony HDR-HC1E PAL (capture a single file with dvgrab to eliminate sync issues)

OS:
Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia

Software:
Kdenlive 20.4.1 (kdenlive-20.04.1b-x86_64.appimage)
No GPU additional driver or GPU acceleration
Parallel processing ON

Crash info:
I discovered crash info from Mint systems report: "The package providing /tmp/.mount_kdenli7FsueJ/usr/bin/melt could not be found.
If you want to generate a stack trace for this crash report, please reinstall it."

The Directories exist and the Kdenlive configuration environment looks correct.

Thanks, Kdenlive is a great product...

Try rendering with parallel processing OFF. You may have effects which doesn't support parallel processing.

Thanks Merlimau for you prompt reply.

Switching off parallel processing solved my other problems (corrupt frames (flashes) when using titles with the fade effect and black rectangle).

I have success with no rendering crashes so far, but the big test will be this weekend, will report back.

Disabling worked like above statements.
I did not have problems with MP4 files.
It must be MTS files (maybe mkv too) that causes the problem with parallel processing.
Programming fix is to disable when MTS files are used. 2 lines of code.
If "Parallel" is experimental, it should not be default.
