Multi thread rendering is slower

Thu Apr 16, 2020 7:44 pm
Hi all,

I'm running the latest Kdenlive on Ubuntu 19.04 on an AMD FX-4300 quad core CPU.

When I set the rendering option to use one thread, a 30 minute video renders in about 30 minutes.

When I set it to use 4 threads, it takes about 1 hour 30 minutes.

I assumed that multi-thread would run faster, so why does it run so much slower?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, this "threats" is a bit misleading. Set it to 0 (zero) or 1. Move the render speed slider to max right. Enabling parallel processing will speed up as well. With some effects parallel processing doesn't work.
