It seems that since a recent version of Kdenlive, webM videos come out very blocky, even with the quality slider pushed to the max
I tried disabling the experimental Parallel processing to see if it was the cause but no. I also tried dragging "Encoder speed" down to the minimum to see if it had anything to do with quality. No success. Is this a bug I should report or am I missing something ?

Ok so this only happens to the WebM profile under "Generic". The one under "Ultra-High Definition (4K)" gets much better results.
Still the quality under Generic is so poor it doesn't seem normal. |

I just noticed this myself and didn't try tinkering--just went straight back to mp4. I would think this is a bug and the devs ought to change the default render settings for webm which should more or less match the quality of mp4.

Sorry but I checked, the WebM/VP8 settings didn't change since 2016. Maybe there was a ffmpeg/libvpx upgrade for which we should change the params.
Which versions are you using (MLT, FFmpeg, libvpx), from which package? |
