How to avoid rendering twice?

Wed Jan 20, 2021 7:34 pm
Hello,

since using version 19.12.3, I have an issue with the file size of rendered videos.

I render a video using the option "MP4 - the dominating format (H264/AAC)", and as options I choose 25 for video quality and 128 for audio quality.
The file size I get is rather large, much larger than in previous versions. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to use my old rendering profiles.
So what I do now is: I render the resulting file again, using the command line:

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -c:v libx264 -preset slow -crf 25 -b:a 128k out.mp4

This produces a file of less than half the size.

I am wondering why I didn't get this small file size in the first place, but anyways: How can I render the video with the options I typed in the command line directly from kdenlive?

Cheers,
Leif

25 is a bit lower (looking at the quality) usually... if you place the cursor (video quality) on 23 and set the 128K for audio directly on the rendering dialog the rendered output is still too big?

P.S. i can create a 25 / 128 custom profile.. but before this.. why your choice is 25?
