Hi,

I'm new to editing and I can't seem to figure out how to render my project as a 1080x1080 video without black borders.

I recorded my videos at a 16:9 1080p30 resolution and would like to publish it on YouTube as a 1:1 1080p video. I tried changing the render resolution to 1080x1080 by selecting more options in the render settings and that left me with a 16:9 video containing black top bars. I changed the project video size to square 1080p and that created black bars on top. In the timeline I added edge crop effect and cut both the sides of the video and still had black borders.

Could someone please help me with this? I've tried everything I could think of.

You need to change your project resolution to 1080x1080, and then add a transform effect to zoom into your timeline, you can add it on master/on tracks if you want it to be centered the same way on all clips

Here's a tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmVSphAkiBU
