Hello, if I set the project settings to hd 1920x1080 and edit the movie on these settings I can finally at the end change the project settings to 4k 60fps and render it in 4k 60fps or will the rendered movie stay in hd 1920x1080? I mean i need to edit video on 4k 60 fps setting to have rendered video in 4k 60fps or i i can work on hd 1920x1080 and change it at the end for 4k 60fps and render it to 4k60fps? Sry, iam fresh :x

I think the way this works in kdenlive is that it passes on the project settings (e.g. resolution, aspect ratio) to MLT (for rendering) and ffmpeg (for encoding). In the render dialog there is no setting for the output resolution per se except for the rescale setting.
So if you want 4k output you need to start with 4k input and 4k project settings. If you are concerned about editing performance with 4k input (I would unless I had a beefed-up machine to work with), use proxy clips and reduce the project monitor resolution to something more palatable.

To sum up...If i set the project to hd 1920x1080 at the beginning, then changing the project settings and rendering to 4k60fps will not change anything? If I want to keep 4k60fps then do I have to start on the project settings at 4k60fps?
Second question, if the camera can record in 4k60fps and the drone can record at a maximum of 4k30fps then can I render in 4k60fps without fear? Do you know any tutorial for these proxy settings which u mentioned I would be very grateful for your help |

if you need to provide to someone a 4K60f video (because this is the format he need for post production purpouses) you can do that... BUT... right now you can't change output quality to the best from a 1080p30f... to have maximum quality you have to start the project with maximum quality (maybe using proxies if the PC is not a top end) ...
if clips are 1920x1080 these will be resized to the 4k format... the frames doubled (no visual changes) BUT titles/animations/effects will works at 4K60f... and this make the final project a little bit BETTER then the original 1080p (increased quality on animations and titltes.... ) you can also make a 4K video (form 1080p clips) better using PICTURE in PICTURE method... placing somewhere on the project some 1080p clip (on corners) as a secondary point of view of the footage... or MAPS.... or altimeters... or timers... something that will be rendered at maximum quality on the final output. |

Oh, okay i understand i will just save this message in note for the future because iam learning from the start.
Tell me one thing... It is better to record in 5k60fps and then in kdenlive edit it and render to 4k60fps or doesnt matter and i can record in 4k60fps and edit & render also? I know that difference will be small or very small but is it worth? Thank you so much, helpful people, apperciate! EDIT: I got how to use proxy so thank you so much for your help guys! Probably i will have some more questions in near future but right now i got what i needed, thx guys u are the best! |

It is always advisable to have very high quality *input* for high quality output. So if you can record in 5k @ 60 fps and want to produce 4k @ 60 or 30 fps then go ahead and do that provided your computer can handle 5k60fps input. Otherwise editing will be frustrating, Set your project to 4k and 30 or 60 fps, use proxy clips and reduce the resolution of your project monitor. Then render at 4k and you are all set
