Not Rendering Transitions Properly

Tue Dec 28, 2021 9:32 pm
Hi everyone!

For some reason, Kdenlive isn't rendering the first part my project properly. The rendered MP4 freezes (the play
-head is still moving forward but picture stays the same even though it is not supposed to) and then unfreezes a bit later. However, if I manually scrub/fast-forward past that trouble area, the part where it was frozen plays correctly. I'm not sure what is causing this issue.

Thanks!

Please check in the Render dialog window whether "Parallel Processing" is enabled. If so, uncheck it and render again.

It was on! Trying with it off... no dice. It still is doing it. It works perfectly fine in the preview but not in the final rendered version. All my other options are off as shown here. They are just a bunch of pictures I have turned into a fade between slideshow but I don't think that should matter.

I noticed you cranked up video quality and audio bitrate. Not sure whether this will make a difference but try rendering with the default values (20 and 160).

So, after restoring to the defaults (30, 160 for me when using the slider), it rendered good. Is this a bug then? I was assuming that higher quality = better.

I would consider this a bug because you need to be able to set the quality to the highest level and render without any problems. The quality slider all the way to the right means highest quality (unfortunately, the lower the number the higher the quality), and audio bitrate is self explanatory. So feel free to log a bug here: https://bugs.kde.org

Glad you could render properly. I suggest you play with the quality settings until you find a good balance between quality and render time.
