WebM VP8 render quality can't be changed (can't use VP9)

It seems like it's been a long-standing issue with this software that the quality of WebM VP8 rendering can't be changed and will always be extremely low, and no one has ever provided an actual solution to getting VP8 working, because obviously you should just use the superior VP9.
Problem is though, I encountered a case of a website that only supports a single video format: VP8 WebM.
So, what now? Does a solution to getting VP8 to work actually exist?

Hello,
could you try editing the VP8 rendering profile and appending vb=20M to the parameters line?
I suspect quality is getting clamped by libavcodec default bitrate, but didn't take time to test myself...

That works, thanks.
Although it really ought to be changed in a way that works by default and can be controlled by the quality slider.

Just added a downloadable custom profile with VB=20.
P.S. this is not using all my CPU but just 45% (Ryzen 1800x 16threads) like MP4 h264
