Hi!

I would like to ask if it is normal to spend so much time (44 hours) to render in 4k. The video had only 2 minutes...
Maybe I've had done something wrong, that's why I am asking...
Could someone tell me what profile to choose to render in 4k in less time?

if you are using the H264 codec, the CPU usage with this one is limited (not by kdenlive) to 8 threads during rendering.. and every rendering become very long... (i'm rendering 2560x1440 25 minute videos on something like 40 minute) using half of my CPU. (8/16 threads)

can you provide more infos about original clip format ? ( or provide a small clip that i can duplicate to reach 2 minutes of rendering to do some tests)

And also about your machine, I have a really old computer and for me "that long" is totally normal ;D that's why I'm not using 4K anymore, instead I'm using the same as bartoloni for professional works.

Here, unfortunately, we have another example of an impatient user.
He has a question. That's good, that's what the forum is for. He logs in for the first time on 12 May 2022, 09:21 and describes his problem. But already after 11 minutes he logs in for the last time and doesn't look into the forum since then. Of course, he has not received any answers yet. A few days later two members help, try to find a solution, but the questioner doesn't even look into the forum anymore. I find that very unfortunate.
But there is a consolation: The other users and also I, have nevertheless the chance to learn something from the two answers.
I thank bartoloni and Makinars-Studio for your commitment.

i think that users that doesn't come again... have found a solution (usually a mistake done.. and don't want to share they stupidity .. and i'm not talking about this user)
what can be happened to this one?

he bought premiere (299$/year) and found that the rendering time of a project was again 1 day...
he found that a core 2 duo can't be used for video editing...
he found that buying a fresh new 1000$ macbook and using imovie solved the probem...

we will never know :(

This is the main problem because someday someone will ask the same thing. :-\

he bought premiere (299$/year) and found that the rendering time of a project was again 1 day...

That's why I use kdenlive... The 299 I use to buy my beer and drink while waiting for the render time to be finish. >:D

he found that a core 2 duo can't be used for video editing...

I totally disagree HAHAHA ;D

That's why I asked his specs, I can edit 4K but it takes forever to render even a 5 minutes video.
We need to know our limits and also our target because sometimes people want to render in 4K and the audience don't even have a screen to watch it... so why?
I understand the necessity of quality for professional work but most of the time it's not to professional work.

Oh, that makes me a little happier because I see that you are taking it with humor. You're probably absolutely right. Basically, all that matters is that we get along with the programs we like. Everyone gets his chance, but he has to use it himself.
