Wolthera's Resource Bundle Thread.

Tue Feb 24, 2015 6:19 pm
Hey hey, with 2.9, you can now bundle resources. The feature is not fully complete, but I wanted to make a general thread to present my own packs. In general, this is so you can test the resource manager.

Finished

Now at 2.2, the inking brush pack makes use of the new anti-alias and auto spacing options. Also included: Calligraphy Brushes!
Download the inking pack bundle.

A pack of Brushes meant for painting, contains many colour smudge brushes, interesting brush-tips and textured brushes. Also optimised for my terrible laptop. Offshoot from the misc resource zip. At Version 1.2.
Download the painting pack bundle here

A pack of filter brushes+a heal brush. I don't think people know that Krita is capable of these things, so I made a simple brush pack with common filter brushes, like dodge, burn, blur and sharpen, as well as adding a heal tool. At version 1.1.
Download here

Pack with brushes that give fancy effects, including several star, cloud and tree brushes, as well as just hearts, lace and interesting lines. At version 1.1.
Download the SFX brush pack here.

Experimental
The following packs are experimental, or mostly somewhat unfinished in looks.

Wash Brush Pack
A pack of brushes using wash and multiply to mimic ink-washes. The rest of the misc resources zip.
Todo: make better thumbnails.
Download the wash brush pack bundle here.

Flow Map Pack
Really experimental pack for making flow-normal-maps. Includes a brush and gradients to draw with this brush.
Todo: rebundle after md5fix, polish.
Download the flow map pack here.

Doodle Brush Pack
A set of sketch brushes that make a nice mess, ideal for doodling.
TODO: Make preset icons.
Download the doodle brush pack here.

Installing
Go into settings->manage resources->import bundle/resource.
Then set your filter to *.bundle. Then select one of the downloaded packs.
Now, you will not immidiately see it, but when you close the resource manager and open it again, you will see that the pack is active. Looking at your presets or tags will show you the new resources.
Putting a bundle under deactivate will deinstall the presets, which means less loading time on startup and less confusing brushes!

The Painting Pack is now officially at release 1!

It now properly loads the brush tips as well!

Thanks!

I did a minor update in the meantime though: copied over the wrong big brush. :)

@Wolthera
Thank you, I've tried your presets: fabulous!
Do you think it will be difficult to allow the live preview on import, in resource bundle window?
I've never used/tested the resource bundle before, I like it, very useful.
Thank you again.

This are really nice brushes! I like those in the doodle set for penciling. And thanks for explaining the way importing bundles is, I would guess the feature doesn't work otherwise.

Thanks for the brushes, I like the new ones in the doodle, painting, and inking bundle, I'm fairly average but I'm thinking I'll use them for a speedpaint on youtube when I decide what I want to do. ;D

Thank you for the nice comments everyone!

I added a 'filter brush' bundle. It contains basic filter brushes with standard icons as well as a heal tool. I made them because I noticed that people don't realise that Krita's filter brush engine or the more advanced functions of Krita's clone brush exist!

In the meantime, I have already created improvements to the existing two packs, so when I have the time, I'll update them nicely.
The SFX brush pack is also coming along nicely, with plenty of ridiculous effects inside. I have been exploring the spray brush engine a lot for it :)
The doodle pack is somewhat stablizing, but I need to decide on cute icons, similar for the wash pack.

Alright, now also added an 'official' release of the sfx pack. Now includes lot more use of the 'spray brush engine' for greater craziness!

EDIT: Updated the inking and painting packs as well.
The painting pack has some small refinements for better brushes, and the inking pack has three new brush added based on the feedback that softer brush are perceived to have better line-quality.

They're all CC0, and this is marked in the bundle-metadata. You can read it when you load them into Krita, or open the bundle with a unzipper.

thanks a lot for sharing your brushes, I particularly love the textured set in the painting pack.
