Painting brush pack

Tue Dec 06, 2016 7:52 am
Image
Bigger picture

Current version:

Download brand new version (updated somewhere in Jan 2019)

More presets, more brush tips, better names and icons (I hope), easier to use. Still no lineart brushes :^)
3 bundles, presets\textures\brush tips and installing instructions included.

Next update will be after Krita 4.2 release (mostly better performance, I don't think I'll do many changes for brushes itself).

Old version:

Download older version

You need krita 3.2 or later for correct work of clone brushes.

A bit about pack:
1) I did it mostly for myself (sort of backup) this is why here my workspaces and weird tags
2) This pack is rather for painting, there is not line brush for example
3) If you looked for something similar to photoshop brushes you are in right place
4) You are free to change settings, names, icons, etc. I hope it'll be useful :)

Installation: Settings -> Manage Resources -> Import Bundles
or read here: https://docs.krita.org/Category:Resource_Management

Ask your questions and let me know if something wrong here.

Well, I have no luck.
I cannot install your bundle in Krita - there is a message it can't be loaded. :(
I have downloaded it twice, and tried it on two different computers. Can you check it and repack/fix, please?

Well, yeah, it give me mistake too. Probably because manually change things in bundle file instead of create new one.
I repacked it and looks like it works now. Try again, same link.

@ radian:
Thanks for your efforts! Now it is better, but still, no perfect. I can install your bundle in Krita,
but now Krita slowns down at loading or hangs at startup (after selecting the page).

Your brushset itself is very nice itself!

Can you confirm that that doesn't happen if you remove the bundle again? If so, I would appreciate a bug report with the bundle attached.

@Drayldan
As possible solution try to open bundle file as archive and manually copy\paste "brush" and "paintoppresets" folders to krita resources folder ($HOME/.local/share/krita/ or user\Appdata\Roaming\krita\).

@radian:
yeah, this helped and now I can use your brushes easily :) however they are accesible only in "All" brushes mode.

@boud:
now everythings's OK after getting fixed version or Raidan's brushes and installing latest Krita version from

Re: Painting brush pack (upd: 18 Mar)

Well, nice news and powerful brushset indeed!
However, I noticed there are 4 brushes missing in your pack. :(
They are marked with a cross on the screen (it means something is broken/missing with that exact brush).
I can see this issue in two different computers with Krita installed.

Here it is:

Can you fix it, please?

Sorry I didn't noticed your message earlier.

That's weird, these brushes included in pack for sure, if you open bundle as archive you'll see these brush tips are here. Also I can use them on my virtual machine without problems and nobody else reported this problem (here and in vk\DA\tumblr).
So it's probably problem with your krita. Maybe they got deleted, check "kis_brushes.blacklist" file for "sketch5" and "brush5".

Well... Brushes weren't blacklisted.

Perhaps something odd/weird happened as the similar effect I got in three places (two Win10 computers and one Win7). :o
It is likely to have one more bug in Krita's history (as concerns bundles matter).

Anyway, I managed to resolve this issue by unzipping your bundle and manually copying all your data (brushes, gradients, paintopresents....) to Krita's
proper directory. Then I set "all" brushes view and selected your brushes and labeled them with Radian's tag.
So, it turns out that sometimes basic, raw methods brings accpeted results.... :P :8 :D

Some great brushes you have radian. Loved them! I don't know how you made these brush tips, but I can see a lot of thought went into them. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks :)
Half of tips is animated brush tips and creating some of them took hours to make them looks good. Funny but I don't use much these "pricey" brushes and deleted many already.
And I probably should update preview pictures...

I can write tutorial how to make neat textured brush tips. Actually I already made one, but on russian and I was too lazy to translate it.

I guessed so. Getting the look of those double brushes the way you achieved, it must have taken a lot of trial and errors. Some of those brushes have gone into my personal set of brushes now. And I would definitely love to see the process on how you make them. Until I saw these brushes, I wouldn't have guessed such brushes are possible in krita.

It's quite simple actually but sometimes it's like "it's great but I don't like this particular little detail that won't even be visible in real work and I must fix it!".
I spent some time trying to make krita do what I want it to do. And I really like messing with brushes.

I'll make new theme with guide, it's "Tutorial & Resources" anyway :)
