![]() Artist: Mike Lazebe Saenz Programs used: Webchemy/Alchemy, Krita Tools: Wacom Intuos Pro This was an off and on again project to try and learn how to draw mechs. I haven't done very much mech drawings other than some pen sketches and bad digital ones, so I decided to try using webchemy to come up with an interesting look instead of trying to sketch it out on my own. For this mech I wanted to design something that looked like it could move pretty fast but still take and dish out a beating. I think it needs a bit more work to really accomplish that but I like how this turned out. I started off with a sketch in webchemy (http://www.webchemy.org) and then brought it into krita, lowered the opacity and changed it to blue to work on the line art on top. Afterwards, I colored certain portions of the bodies in separate layers with a dull gray and then went back over it using the transparency lock to color everything in. To sum up, I want to add texture, fix the lighting and maybe rework the joints and the design of the cockpit a bit. Here are a few more thumbs: ![]() ![]() You can find my deviantArt page here: http://www.lazebe.deviantart.com and more progress pics on this drawing and more at my IG and FB. I think the design looks great already (well, probably given my nonexistent knowledge of how mecha stuff works
) The only thing I can comment on it that the "hands" and "feet" don't look robotic enough. I think they need to look more like they're made of separate parts assembled together, maybe the hands more than the feet, since the feet are more defined the way the parts come together (did that make sense? Haha). But I can already tell it'll look great once textures are added and lighting worked to give it that metallic look! I can't wait to see the final rendered image!
