Krita seems to be fun

Wed May 23, 2012 1:32 am
Hi guys, I have to say Krita is very powerful painting software. Bit buggy on windows but not as much as I thought. Pressure works ok and performance is better compared to GIMP, at least for me. Some 2h random diablo monster:

I'm not sure if this is good place for bug report but most annoying are:
- brush shift resize seems to freeze Krita for a bit and It doesn't work so It is better to do it by using slider- but it is bit more time consuming
- can't save color palete - no rights to create file on win7 (but saving brushes works ok...)/ also Krita crashes when I press 'load' palete from file
- color palete is empty at start - my custom UI preset won't load any colors
These are the worst so I hope they will be fixed in next release, but they are not enough to stop me from using Krita from now on :). Thanks for that app to developers!!

edit:
final more or less

Hi Jose!

Yes, you've hit all the windows-specifc bugs, except the "cannot paint on duplicated layers". I'm not sure whether I'll be able to actually fix these bugs in time for the release. But for now, the windows installer isn't taken from a released version of Krita, I build it every week from git master.

Now when you mention this I had problem with duplicate layer paint too.
One thing about shift+drag for brush size bug - When I downloaded 'Download Calligra Suite' there was no this bug.
Then I downloaded 'Download Unstable Krita' hoping that maybe some of bugs would be fixed there, but then problem with brush resizing appeared. Also color selection popup seems to be displayed empty randomly, so I think I will stick with 'Calligra Suite' for windows right now.

If I had to pick, I would say this brush size bug seems to be most serious- it slows down the painting process the most.

Hm... That's strange, because that code didn't change between 2.4 and git master. And I have the problem on my windows box with both installers!

For now, it's maybe most efficient for you to use the , and . (comma and dot) shortcuts to resize the brush?

Well I downloaded 'Calligra Suite' about week ago and it had no 'theme support' and no problem with color selection popup, and brush resizing.
Yesterday I got 'Unstable Krita' with theme support and more bugs ;)
Thanks for the tip with , and .
BTW I noticed that shif+drag dosen't only work for Pixel Brush, dyna brush and sketch brush. Other brush types I can shift+scale ok.
