Lady Mary Crawley

Hello all!

I drew this fanart of Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey. I used Krita 2.4 and I must say I do like the changes in it : D.
Here it is:

Image

As you can tell I totally abused on the smudge tools. I do like it because it gives this a very good oil paint effect.
Tried my hand at realism this time around. It was a bit of challenge , especially for a person who style is very anime influenced.

Here's the dA link:

Comments and criticisms are appreciated!

Well, it's good to see the smudge tools used with such a great effect! And great color, too. If there's one thing that I think could be better it's the lines along the throat/neck. I don't know the original character, but those lines seem a bit too sharp to me, more as if the head were tilted backwards.

I love drawing with pencil and pastels but I have never tried to draw using computer software. But this inspires me to do so, eventually.
Can you tell me what tools do you need to draw in Krita? I suppose it is not a mouse only. Is it a special electronic pad or pen? Can you give me specific examples?

Yes, you definitely need to get a tablet. Wacom tablets are the most expensive, but they work well with Krita. You might find one second-hand Intuos (3, 4 or 5, all are great) or get the Bamboo Pen as an inexpensive starting option.

Thank you! Ah yes, I see what you mean. I might have not payed that much attention the reference picture as much as I should have.
