Plascitc man

Just testing new tablet asus ep121 with penpressure sensitive display.

Unfortunately after going from Win7 to Ubuntu 12.04 64bit Krita lags.
I guess it has something to do with Intel Mobile driver, that are slow on Linux (from what I read there is no decent driver or somehing). Weird thing is, form time to time Krita has speed boost - usually after Kernel update, or once after Ubuntu crash Kita was much more responsive. I'm not sure what caused crash, but maybe it was display driver or "X Server". Anyway is it possible, that after crash, 'Window manager' got reseted, and that influenced Krita speed? How do I test it? How do I make this 'speed boost' pernament?

I am sorry youre having that problems on tablet man - on desktop Krita runs under Linux like a cheetah hunting gazelle. Or maybe even gazelle that cheetah cant get. Quite honestly I am little bit nervous about whole "ok, I want to paint so lets switch to Linux now" and I would prefer Krita running just as good under Windows. But it is what it is and I guess I am diggin' Linux a bit more - certainly i do not afraid of it anymore thx to Krita.

Anyways - very cool sketch you got here man - I just love the light and the smoothness of whole thing. Are you going for values first and then colors or just straight into colors? Very cool.

Nice testing, I like the volume work on this, very smooth with soft shadows.

I don't know if krita is slower on windows on a faster machine, In my PC is almost the same Linux or windows. But any lag should be a concern. have you tried looking at your system processes with "top" or "htop", maybe you have a process hog. That's an idea. Another one could be to look on the internet for guides on configuring your intel mobile driver, maybe there is a tweak somewhere recommended. but I have no experience with your driver nor do i know your computer specs.

I like it, an orange hulk! and with style in haircut. :D good volumes and color. I am intrigued about performance of that device with Krita. is like Cintiq? has more delay?

Sorry for late repy.
Nezumi, I get your point about linux. I wish zbrush and scurptris ran on linux, then there would not be need to run win again.

ghavan - thx- I used 'color smudge brush' engine to get smooth gradients, with sharp detail. Awesome brush and I think Krita is the only app having it. About slowdowns I will wait for new ubuntu. Maybe new linux kernel will solve problem. I though it is bad Itel HD Mobile driver, but it seems Boudewijn has Intel too, and he doesn't complain.

RamonMiranda - thx. Asus EP121 it is like 12inch cintique with windows OS and quite fast hardware. I have never had used Cintique so I can't compare, but Asus EP is full computer not just drawing tablet.

One more work, this time on PC.

The red one looks real iconic. Good work.
