hi-res version This is from early August. I have one or two I did earlier than this, that I started in myPaint before finishing in Krita, but this is the first time I used a Krita-centric workflow. Here's an animated gif of the process: The majority of drawing and painting was with Deevad's v2 brushkit, the "sketch" and "textured stroke" brush in particular. I used a handful of the default Krita brushes too, particularly the rougher blenders to soften some edges and "splatter" type blenders on the colourise layer to create more broken colour. The texturing comes from a hodgepodge of tools. Some of the skin was handled with a custom pore brush and the default "noisy airbrush" preset. The leather texture is one of the default patterns. The chainmail brush is one I made myself rather than a pattern, to give it a more 3D feel. It's basically lots of little "C"s in a line. I think there's a custom sewing brush in there too, inspired heavily by the experimental myPaint sewing brushes. I rarely leave the textures as-is, generally painting over a little so they feel more natural or to remove distracting detail. |

It's very cool to see the "making of" gif. When I first saw the image, I was thinking, if the background continues enough to the left, it would make an amazing wallpaper!

Great work. There is something new in this work. May be its just a feeling. But that feeling makes this work an outstanding one. Having a peek into the works of great artists gives us great motivation.
