btw, Krita 2.9 beta version worked well on my Ubuntu 12.04 for two weeks until recently. It crashes everytime I try to save a file. So I switch back to 2.7.1.
Maybe some conflicts with other updates in Ubuntu?

I don't know of any regressions -- but then, I'm not a ubuntu user myself. One thing you could try is to temporarily move a way .kde/share/apps/krita and .kde/share/apps/kritarc and try again with the latest version from the lime repositories.
