Thanks for your comment! I do not just enjoy using Krita!...I relay on it and could express my passions efficiently! I do have some recommendations... In Jack-Frost(contest) I needed Motion Blur Zoom filter which unfortunately I couldn't find it in Krita! If we want to see Krita at the best position of supporting VFX and Post-Productions effects rendering, Krita must have some effects like: Motion Blur Zoom , you could see the slight result using gimp's motion blur zoom in one of my concepts below: Krita needs some Optical-Aberrations effects such as: Distortion , Chromatic Aberration, Lens Flare, Vignetting and more...! As Krita supports Open-EXR(standard vfx file format), I strongly recommend that suporting such effects is the priority!!! As you could see, I always have eargeness to get the advanced photo-realistic look... So I do hope we have them all in Krita soon! For any discussion please call me at: charactology.com

Great! I strongly recommend you and all photo-realistic lovers watching this video by Aaron Sims. It's not teaching photoshop but advanced rendering look: Designing Creatures in Adobe Photoshop, with Aaron Sims

Great, thankyou. I can achieve photo-realism in traditional media with references but not "from my head" like I would like to My digital stuff really lags behind. Can I ask how long that one took you?
Edit: Oh I guess I can't watch that video for now, a bit beyond my means, thanks anyway |

I can't say exactly! It depends on the complexity of that concept! If I have a clear image in my mind I could have it done much faster! In average, one of them takes less than 20 or 25 hours, sometimes I don't have a clear mind about it and I do play with the sketch to get the right theme then starting to add details and enphasizing the passion that must be conveyed! Deforming Brushes are very important to me as when I need to sculpt my sketches into the richer forms!!! Please explain what you mean and what you need... It's pleasure if I could do some help and sharing knowledge. |

Yeah I was thinking they must take at least 15+ hours. I'm still really new to Krita, which deforming brushes do you mean?
Just meant that the video at that link you supplied costs $60 so it's outside of my means currently but I'd definitely like to order it one day down the track. Right now I'm just looking at art that I admire and adjusting my process to try and emulate some of the look. For instance right now I'm working on a dragon head with inspiration from your above raptor bird creature (sorry if it has a proper name) but struggling a little bit to get the lighting right. I suspect I just need to fiddle with it a whole lot more, as I doubt I've spent more than about 6 hours on it so far! Thanks very much for being so willing to chat with me btw I enjoy your work a lot |

Sorry!.. I said deforming brushes, I've made several deforming brushes form the default. Actually we have one deforming brush in Krita similar to IWarp in Gimp, Liquify in Photoshop or even Warping-Brush in Paintshop pro! As I said I always use deforms to sculpt my sketches and photos!, and then adding details over. As I see...you're very keen on realistic paintings and effects, so I recommend you a book...It's the best of the best!!! Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter |

Oh I actually have that book, I'd forgotten about it! The author has been an artistic hero of mine since I was very young. Time to go find where I put the book and study it hard, thank you for the ideas
