Some comic-book style test

Fri Aug 20, 2010 2:18 pm
Hi,

I've started to think about making a comic book with Krita (at least for inking and layout), so I've done some test before, to see what I can do with sketch and hatching brushes.
Here they are:

I hope I'll can show a full page soon! ;)

That's really cool!

I was thinking of creating a hatching generator (a generator is like a filter but it doesn't need any input except settings) to fill those large areas in an homogeneous way. What do you think, do you think it'd be useful?, Is there something special you'd like to see, like, say, hatched gradients? :)

Thank you all for your comments!

A hatching generator is a good idea.
As I already said it would be great to can use this generator with a brush working as the "Select an area by his outline" tool, but filling the area instead of selecting it.
This would be very useful!

Then a gradient setting for hatching generator could be useful too, with some settings like number of values to use(from 2 to 256.. 1 would disable gradient.. and 256 is the max from black to white, right?) and a mouse click setting to set origin and end of the gradient on the canvas.

About the gradient setting I was talking about, I meant something like the first line in this example (it's not very accurate but you should get the idea):

But a different kind of gradient like the one in the second line could be cool too.

Also some different type of gradient, like: linear, circular, and why not curve and noise gradient (like those in Synfig).

Or maybe this kind of Hatched gradient would be better :
