Hi,

I'm using Krita to draw my Comic book since some weeks now ! I used before a mix of MyPaint and Gimp, but now, I can use only one soft, and it's Krita ! I want to thank all the guys that work on this project! It's so well done ! All that an artist can wait on a program is there !!!

You're totally on the right path !!! Krita is really what I was looking for ! I was happy with MyPaint + Gimp but now all what I needed is in the same program !

Actually, I have an issue, just from yesterday ! I upgraded my ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04 (natty). Since then Krita do not manage stylus pressure ! MyPaint and the gimp work perfectly.

My tablet is well recognized:

lol you should have asked before to upgrade, I would have warned you pressure is broken with QT apps in Natty (I reported it on ubuntu bugtracker at launchpad here )

Anyway if you find a workaround I'm interested to know it

I am *NOT* a Linux expert but I don't think you can downgrade to Maverick without having to install it from scratch

Naturally, I *do* hope for you I am wrong!

I am aware it is too late to say this but:
You should *never*, ever change your Linux system when you are happy with it (especially if you use it for your work)!
More precisely, switching from Ubuntu Maverick (Gnome desktop) from Ubuntu Natty (Unity desktop) is really "dangerous".
After all, the Ubuntu guys release a long-term support release (Lts), at present, Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, exactly for that.
At present, many softwares don't work well on Unity...

As for myself, I have always worked with VirtualBox [2] to try new Linux distributions without affecting my system.

If you don't want to use a Virtual Machine (which is understandable), you might try to create different partitions on your hard drive.
Needless to say, by doing this, you must *really* know what you are doing in order not to destroy your data on your hard drive!

No, switching to Kubuntu doesn't fix the problem. The issue is that *buntu manages to get exactly the wrong combination of Qt and wacom drivers that doesn't work. Every time, it seems. And since that's the same from kubuntu, ubuntu and xubuntu, switching from one spin to the other doesn't work. It;s completely outside our (that's the krita guys) power, unfortunately.

so maybe I'll need to get a new install of KDE and forget ubuntu ?

@André VAZ : Oh cool you did inking with Krita good result. I also start to see a lot of benefit working inking with Krita, a good feeling around how lines behaves.

Yeah, I'll do the same now...
Krita is THE program I was waiting for, I can't show my last pages for the moment but they are all done under krita, from layouts to inks !

I think the problem is not KDE or Gnome ; but last Ubuntu updates ( so the same in the KDE version of Ubuntu Kubuntu).
The best switch imo is certainly a go back to maverick meerkat ; kde or gnome.
