Pearls and Roses

Sat Jul 02, 2011 9:37 pm
Hello all, I'm a new Krita user. Used it to create this:
Image

A larger version can be found here: http://flareingfira.deviantart.com/#/d3ijkse

I did this on Ubuntu 10.10. I would say I used Krita 98% and then minor touch ups were done on GIMP and MyPaint. It's fun to paint in and I really like the brush customization system. While I'm here, I would like to make a complaint. I upgraded recently to 11.04 and it seems that Krita lost tablet sensitivity! Though it works fine on GIMP and MyPaint. Is there a solution to this? Other than downgrading?

Hey there,

Nice to see another Canuk Krita user around! Love the painting, especially the eyes, hair and the detail of her outfit. It's nice to see a painting with a more subtle, non primary color palette as well. Welcome to the Krita forums!

I mostly used MyPaint to blur/blend the background and the edges of the hair and the dress. Used GIMP to adjust some colours.

I believe I used 2.3.3. The brushes were your standard round pixel brush. For the hair, I think I used a GIMP/Photoshop brush.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. You start very well, posting your art and asking questions. so an active member since the first post. I found always complex to paint dresses, so you have selected an interesting subject. I will stay tuned following your progress,if you need help just ask.

Thank you very much for your kind words! As for the dress, I like painting dresses especially if they are very detailed and very impractical to wear.
