Can you provide the preset? I will take a look at the problem. Does it happen only with soft brush mode or also in the default brush mask mode (fade parameter)?
Daylight is coming...

I'll take the liberty to provide a description of how to reproduce the problem and a screenshot.
Run Krita, draw diagonal lines with tablet (standard preset of Pixel brush): The second pic is magnified x4: With Fade == 1.0 aliasing even more noticeable. |

Thanks ALeXeY, this is a good example of the promblem. i am investigating more Here is my first test of antialias in Krita and Gimp.
As you can see the line (2) and line (3) present a hard edges. you have to see the image at 200% zoom. this way is more evident. I continue testing . let me know if other artists see this relevant or not, because we work at high res 2000 px or more and we have to zoom in to view this issue. What do you think? |

Ok testing more deeply, here we go
Test 1 The default brush when we open Krita. 5 px wide and 0.5 fade. Test 2 The default brush when we open Krita. 5 px but wide and 0.0 fade.(maximum fade?) Test 3 The default brush when we open Krita. 5 px wide but in softbrush mode. and this curve So i think we have to make these kind of curve if we want to get a good antialias. My next stage is to compare autobrush with predefined brushes antialias. with the same brush 5px |

Now we are going into the Brush anatomy. Look up this picture
This is the Default Brush in Krita (Autobrush) with no opacity and no size pressure curve control. in a Document of 5x5 pixels wich is the same size than brush diameter. The result is not a Black Spot. Because the Fade is set to 0.5. If we set Fade to 0.0 then we get a Black spot that covers all the document size. Now we are going to see what does a Predefined Brush. You can see that is different. I don´t know if the preview is ok ¿? the outline is rare, but we have something like this in a brushtroke. btw the scale is set to 0.5 instead one to achieve similar result on the test. so for now, i have doubts about softbrush mode vs predefined brush. when we use them for small sizes . i will make more tests . Any idea ? i wait your opinions. |

The latest for today. all the combinations
I see there is a big difference between the predefined and last brushtroke (softbrush with curve). What do you think about these tests, any conclussion that i missed?. if not i am going to continue painting note: in these brushtrokes the size and opacity are controled by pressure again. |

I forget to upload the Gimp image.
Here we can see how a brush of 5 px of diameter is looking "inside GIMP." NOTE:There is no opacity and no size controlled by stylus pressure.Except on the "curved " brushtroke. Now You can save all the test images and compare them in 200% zoomed view in your picture viewer . Let me know if you discover something interesting Final conclussions so far. -I see the antialias quality for predefined brushes is better in small sizes. -The softbrush mode is cool for mid-size brushes because is more customizable. We can create complex brush tips with it. I think for the moment i will not use the autobrush setting by default or fading options in small sizes. -There isn´t a big difference between Fade = 0.5 and Fade= 0.0 with small sizes. |

Nice investigation and report Ramon.
I don't see much difference of aliasing edge between "PB circle 05" and "autobrush with curve". Between Fade 0,5 and Fade 0,0 , the difference I see is "0,5" stroke is darker than "0,0". |

Animtim, thanks for the comment.Autobrush with curve is a bit smaller than Predefined at the same size.(5 px in this case.) that is inherent to the curve behaviour.

Well this is the end for the antialias problem. LEtś go for weird things, that i don´t know if they are only on my machine.
When i am working on an image i see that there is a blank or transparent area .But this is only visually, if i save the file and open in a file viewer i see it ok. What happens here? As i install krita, 2 color selectors appear by default. but if i edit this , bye bye the second selector (mypaint type). there is no way to recover that. why? When i use dockers i see this bug? If you resize the docker, the text appear again completely. Krita doesn´t crash. It is very uncomfortable this so BIG snap distance with the dockers. Well i wait your answers to these questions. Thank you. by the way the image is advanced now. |

I think the bug in text of dockers is in gnome desktop only because I'm under KDE and I don't have this problem.

I don't get the snapping problem on my KDE system either. The transparent line to the right (and sometimes bottom) edge has been around for a looooooong time though. I think it even got fixed and came back... Search bugs.kde.org and I'm sure you'll find it.

That transparent line is so difficult to actually fix... it's caused by having the canvas background size calculation be slightly different due to rounding issues than the actual scaled image size calculations. We've fixed it a bunch of times, but it crops up every time again.
For the mypaint shade selector -- you've managed to describe what I've seen happen myself but I couldn't pin it down. Please make a bug report, Adam will probably be able to fix it. The snap distance sucks, but it's a Qt problem... We can't do much about it except take over maintenance of that part of Qt . |

-Ok the transparent line bug is there sometimes and doesn´t affect too much the procces.
-The bug about shade selector is reported. i will wait the fix. -I would like to see more clearly the differences between KDE krita and Gnome Krita. Anyway the image is finally done. I have painted all the "hellish" flowers and now is finished. too tired to post anything so maybe tomorrow. I like the result, but the time on this is big too. i have to find ways to paint faster, but i love detail and you will see what i mean with detail. byee |
