An interesting point: if you use Color Smudge brush engine with Multihand tool, the sides of the picture are created not absolutely symmetrical.
And, as I think, it's good, more looks like real paint! :)

Awesome painting! I'm glad to see multihand tool in use!

This time I trying to remember how I wrote (or, rather, constructed) a iridescent shader in Houdini3d. It was physically incorrect anyway...
But now, after further research, I understand that the spectral effect must be localized only in specular* highlights.

So, I changed the colorization mode:
