Hello, and welcome to the Monthly Drawing Challenge in August!

The challenge for July is over, the results can be found here:
viewtopic.php?f=277&t=127077

Last month's winner was scottyp.
The winner-selected topic for this month is:

ancient

EDIT:
There is a special challenge scheduled for next month, so this month's winner will choose the topic for October.

More information about that special challenge will be released as soon as the poll for the current challenge starts.

As always, I wish you a lot of fun drawing.

--==How the challenge works==--

The topic changes every month. Every image should be somehow related to the current topic.
It would be nice, if you could also add an explanation, how it is related to the topic, if you think that it is not clear from the image alone.

You can submit your image until the 24th of August, 12:00 UTC, by posting an image as answer in this thread.
For posting images, the same rules as in the Gallery section apply.

After that, a poll will be created and forum users can vote for the winner.
The poll will run for 7 days, the winner will be the one with the most votes until the end of the poll.

The winner will have the privilegue to choose the topic for the month October.

Never knew there was a drawing challenge,..nice :-)
I did draw an old stonelike statue head. It turned out to be a nephilim, very ancient :-)
All done with Krita, of course.

Two ancients creatures falling in love. Painted with Krita. Also used paint storm to generate grunge effects.

Hi all ! Nice to be here again. I know Is summer so i don´t be too boring about techniques and technical data. ;D ;D ;)
Ancient like piramids ,like old civilizations, like the human on earth. Ancient colors for a dream, Where do we go as we live?but what we see is not a piramid, is more like a prism. And the columns are not equal , maybe is a place where civilizatios gather their treasures of knowledge ...

I went for Stonehenge since it seemed pretty ancient. For this painting I used photo reference and painted with deevad_3d_hard_bristles_wet , my absolute favorite brush.

Hello, new in the forums, new Krita user and new in Digital Painting in general ;D

Here is my entry: "El Guardián", totally made in Krita, except the pyramids, I made them first in Blender to get the right perspectives as reference.
A "mythical" creature guarding the entrance to an ancient civilization full of knowledge and power; he decides who is worthy to cross the giant walls that protect the underground city, how much time they can stand there, and if they can return...

Link in case it doesn't loads

EDIT: Added image link

Homage to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mourning_Athena . and it is fan art of the Idolmaster. I used multibrush to paint patterns on the aspis.

The poll is over and this month's winner is RamonMiranda, who can now choose the topic for the october challenge.
Thanks to everybody who participated and voted, without those people, the drawing challenge would be impossible.
Also many thanks to everybody who shared the word on social media.

The september challenge will be a special challenge, more will be announced in the thread for that challenge.
I hope to see you there again.
