Welcome to the March 2016 Monthly Drawing Challenge!
Last month, Quiralta won in the Monthly Drawing Challenge.
The complete results are here: viewtopic.php?f=277&t=130904&p=352483

This month's winner-selected topic is:

Fan-Art-Remix

Don't forget to use the hashtag #kritachallenge to spread the word!

Please only post fan art when the creator gave you the explicit permission to make fan art or the creator explicitly allows fan art in general.
Here is a list of authors, who allow fan works: http://fanlore.org/wiki/Professional_Au ... c_Policies - Thanks to Wolthera for finding it!

--==How the challenge works==--

The topic changes every month. Every image should be somehow related to the current topic.
It would be nice, if you could also add an explanation, how it is related to the topic, if you think that it is not clear from the image alone.

You can submit your image until the 24th of March, 12:00 pm (noon) UTC, by posting an image as answer in this thread.
For posting images, the same rules as in the Gallery section apply.

Collaborative works are allowed.

After the drawing phase, a poll will be created and forum users can vote for the winner.
The poll will run for 7 days, the winner will be the one with the most votes until the end of the poll.

The winner will have the privilege to choose the topic for the April challenge!
When there are multiple winners, every winner chooses a topic, which are then merged into the final challenge topic.

FanArtRemix?
Not sure what the Art Remix part means or if it's mean nothings, and just there to sound jazzy? ... or is the idea to pick the fan art of someone but try and do it better or different?

xD sorry for that, I heard so many times those two words that I thought (wrongly now I know :) ) that would be an easy topic to take on.

Fanart = pieces inspired on your favorite artist art.

Remix = in this case use your favorite fanart pieces and remix them (even more) or may be a mix of your favorite artists pieces, up to you.

The finality is to have fun, nothing technical or mandatory : )

I think, the topic means, that you can combine two or more characters from different comics/games/cartoons etc in one drawing.
If you want to interpret the topic differently though, you can do that. You're free to interpret it in any way.

What stumps me is the "Please only post fan art when the creator gave you the explicit permission to make fan art or the creator explicitly allows fan art in general."

Not always easy to find out whether a creator allows fan art or not, although I imagine their say on the matter wouldn't stop most people from doing it anyway. I guess that it's more a disclaimer than anything?

Yes, that's only a disclaimer to be on the safe side, law-wise.
If you don't know what you can make fan art about - there are a few projects that encourage fan arts and even fan adaptions by being open-source, for example David Revoy's "Pepper&Carrot" and Blender Foundation's Big Buck Bunny.

All right, All right, my fault xD
So here is what would be my entry but I am not participating this time.
Fanart could be from many a thing that are not copyrighted or a least that do allow people to take on them, thus are you fan of Edgar A. Poe, bring the cats and ravens. Do you like Jules Verne? bring the Nautilus, how about some of the Mascots from FOSS, favorite singer, make her/him a superhero (as far as you don't try to sell it ^-^ ) etc. Challenge your selves :P and have fun.

My favorite character from David Revoy's Pepper&Carrot comic is Shichimi, I also fond of Krita's Kiki, and finally I use quite a bit the TF.com website for reference material in Popculture fashion. thus here is my remix.

My logo is not remixable(ccncnd), the image is though.(ccby)

It might be a little difficult to find out, which things you are explicitly allowed make fan works about, so here is a list of authors, who allow it:

Thanks to Wolthera for finding this website!

Hey @sierrap,
images can't be uploaded directly to the forum, so you have to use an image hoster.
I recommend imgur ( https://imgur.com ), which is free and doesn't require registration.
Upload your image there, then embed the image into your post with the img-tag like
Code: Select all

Your image should be embedded and displayed in your post now.
I hope I could help you with that.
