I have 3 MiniDV tape Cameras, and Have no interest in upgrading to anything different. With that said, bring back MiniDV tape and camera control to Kdenlive please.
My Computer, which I cal My Video Editing Beast, runs Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya Cinnamon as the sole OS. The Kdenlive is Version 17.04.3 using KDE Frameworks 5.18.0, Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1), The xcb windowing system. I love Kdenlive, but having to take videos, open KINO to capture the clips of the Tapes, then opening the folder I stored the Videos to, open Kdenlive and do drag and drop is counter productive. |

Hello,
Sorry but our record monitor didn't get through the port to Qt5, and the effort to get it back was not considered a priority, as so few people still use tapes. Even the devs don't have access anymore to FireWire camera&computers to test it I don't say it will never come back, who knows someone could contribute it at any time... |

If I knew how to program into the Kdenlive on my machine, it would be full speed ahead, but unfortunately That is something I cannot even begin to fathom, much less do.

As long as kdenlive does not support this, you may want to check dvgrab (the tool which kdenlive used - as far as I know) and use it seperately from kdenlive.
