I hope there are a lot of complaints about this topic on this forum.
But I still decided to do so even without expectation that this will help. I had a few tries to go from blender video editor to kdenlive. But always had the same problem. Kdenlive is bright and quick and fancy but with the major mistake in the core. I am about applying effects to the groups. I know you would say: - But hey, you can just select everything you need in drag and drop you're effect! And then when I have some changes, do this again or copy and paste. Add another strip? Don't forget to copy effects. And again and again and again and again... And also there are my case, time-laps video, where I have to change speed of video. With my last half an hour time-lapse video made in blender I had around 100 cuts. I just group everything and apply speed effect. And still was able to go into this group and edit. What about kdenlive. You can't copy speed effect with some value to your strip. And even if you can! The length of every stripe would change and you'll have to manually reposition everything. Why is this a case? Why groups can't work like in blender? Isn't this the basic workflow that you want to see in video editor? It is for me! Best wishes. Vitalii |

I think right now you can do a few things to mitigate the lack of such a feature:
1. Put effects on tracks and use tracks to group clips you want to apply common set of effects to quickly - you simply place a clip on that track and it'll be processed with the effects. This doesn't work with the Speed effect. 2. You can import a Kdenlive project inside another Kdenlive project as a single clip - apply all effects there and if you need to change something inside of it - you can just load hat project and save it again. I haven't tested this, so I can't say how well it works, but I saw people suggest that solution. Kdenlive has a Grouping feature but it works by locking strips together in sync. This feature could be called Metastrips, like in Bender. Maybe it could be a transarent interface to using separate Kdenlive projects as strips on your timeline? |

Hello I've just tried to apply this to my workflow. I have track with like 100 clipse and I need to speed them up to make sort of timeline. I imported this 100 clip project to another project to apply speed effect for single clip instead of 100 clips. But, when I try to apply effect and change actual speed from 100% to different number clip disappears from track and, operation cannot be undone or kdenlive crashes. Do you have any other suggestion for my workflow? |
