Sort of related to the various requests about replacing clips, as in viewtopic.php?f=265&t=152385
Video files get huge. I just recorded 30 minutes of video to end up selecting 1min worth to actually use. I picked out the best bits in Kdenlive and have them in the timeline. I can identify zones and remux each zone to end up with a much smaller video file that is still clear enough. I just want this to be part of an automated process which then replaces the references in the timeline to then use the new remuxed small files. Example: 1GB long video file, put 20 seconds of it in the timeline. There should be a simple command that will take all the necessary steps to end up with a file that is only 20 seconds long, the timeline (with whatever details and effects etc) remains. Instead of referencing 5:20 to 5:40 of a long file, the timeline now references all of a 20-second file. The result of this process is that I can choose to discard the whole long file if I choose. My project is small and compact. A comparable feature exists in DAWs for Audio. Instead of forcing audio clips to be referenced to unedited source files, it can export new source files, as many as needed. Then the links are made to the new smaller files, and the original lengthy source files can be garbage-collected in order to clean and compact the whole project. |
