kdenlive 22.04 - appimage: bug(s) with icons?

Hello dear developers,

I hope this is the right place to put this...

Having used kdenlive appimage 21.12 for a while and being very satisfied with it I downloaded the appimage 22.04.

After starting it I realised that kdenlive 22.04 doesn't display any icons neither in the main window nor in the menus (only text appeared).
After removing kdenlive-appimagerc, restarting kdenlive 22.04 recreated a new kdenlive-appimagerc, however, if some icons appeared, even then, many others were still missing, and again others were confusing, because there appeared only the kdenlive symbol in tiny form.

Is there anything you can do about it?

If you wish I can supply screen shots.

Thank you very much in advance for your great work on a superb programme.

Hello everyone, hello bartoloni,

I am a user of Debian 11, with lxde.

This is what kdenlive-21.12.2-x86_64.appimage displayed:

That is what kdenlive-22.04.0-2-x86_64.appimage displayed:

I just downloaded kdenlive-22.04.1-x86_x64.AppImage. It is just the same problem.

Thanks for your support.

Hello everyone,

Could it have been necessary for me to use for any period of time (i.e. at least once) kdenlive-21.12.3-x86_64.appimage ?

(I never used it, I went straight from kdenlive-21.12.2-x86_64.appimage to 22.04.0-2-x86_x64.AppImage)

Just in case any configuration file should have gone through a previous/preliminary change.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry, can't reproduce on Ubuntu/Fedora... can you open an issue here: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues posting the images in PNG format?

I had similar experience on Ubuntu 20.04. No KDE installed. Running from the AppImage doesn't show most of the icons.

AFAIR this was caused when I was using Kdenlive with AppImage AND there was a release that changed the AppImage generation method (sorry, don't remember version number). This version when running after the previous version was in use (other "build" method) caused this issue.

Right now i do not have this kind of issue presumable because i've deleted AppImage configuration from ~/.config. The file kdenlive-appimagerc. After that I think the new AppImage starts with the icons in right place and all are visible.

Btw. Hi all ! first post ever to this forum :)

Hello everybody, hello bartoloni,

Oh sorry!

I wanted to inform everyone on this thread that I would open a thread on invent.kde.org.

Then I thought, let me open it first, and, then, inform people here... I opened it ... and then I got myself distracted ... Really sorry!

But you noticed anyway - cheers!

Slawek Mikula mentions there something I was sensing: the change in generation / build method of the appimage might be part of the reason why I am having this problem with diffreent icons - although I also tested with a completely new kdenlive-appimagerc and it didn't fully solve the problem...

So I'll be patient - and no problem with that: work with kdenlive-21.12.2-x86_64.appimage is so pleasant and a big step forward from the original version delivered with Debian 11 Bullseye... (it actuallly is the only appimage I operate on my system ;) )

Thanks to all for their support.

Hello everybody, hello bartoloni,

Yes, I've just seen that;
and I saw this as well: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenl ... ote_462529

So it does look very good.

I'll be checking regularly on the download page (https://kdenlive.org/fr/download-fr/) till the link showed there is on kdenlive-22.04.2-x86_x64.AppImage ...
Unless the so-called "development version" or "nightly build" (further down) is just that (but it doesn't show any version number)... - in which case I could definitely test pretty soon...

Thanks very much for all your work.
Cheers !

Hello everybody,

Well, now I know that the next release (kdenlive-22.04.2-x86_x64.AppImage) is planned for tomorrow...

Only one more day to wait... ;)

Cheers

Hello everybody,

I wanted to test "experimental" / "nightly build", as the newest final version kdenlive-22.04.2-x86_x64.AppImage is not out yet.

But we Linuxians seem to be out of luck as the link leads to nowhere...

But no worry, I'll wait...
;)

Hi all

when will 22.04.2 be available? I saw a time line saying it should be but download still maps to .1

I also have the icon issue but am continuing with it as I know where most of the icons are now without seeing the actual icon :D :D :D

Is there a chance .2 will fix this issue?

thanks guys
