Cleaning kdenlive.org site

Tue Sep 29, 2015 9:53 pm
Hello.
I have noticed, that kdenlive.org site's content is very dirty and outdated.

Most of the links in "Contribute" section. Especially links, that are pointing to "kdenlive.org/forum" due to it is now here on forum.kde.org. Also, some of pictures there are missing.
In "Help" section most of the videos in "Video tutorials" are just missing. So why that garbage? Just remove broken links.
On page https://kdenlive.org/irc it is required to replace this
<iframe src="http://webchat.freenode.net/?randomnick=0&amp;channels=kdenlive" width="100%" height="500"></iframe>
with this
<iframe src="https://webchat.freenode.net/?randomnick=0&amp;channels=kdenlive" width="100%" height="1500"></iframe>
Https because chromium do not loads insecure content by default (kdenlive is https, but link to webchat.freenode.net is not https), and height 1500 to make captcha be possible to display and answer.

Remove keyboard stickers from "Resources" section. By the way there is a link at the bottom of keyboard stickers page, that points to https://kdenlive.org/taxonomy/term/4 which I believe should be wiped (but I did not checked).

At "Download" section I think everything besides link to userbase.kde.org should be removed, due to it provides info about building from source and even about more distributions.

And of cource, remove login form or at least instructions about how to register, because when you are going there, you see Access is Denied page.

I do not know, how to contact admin of kdenlive.org, because there is not any contact information there. So I post it here. Maybe admins can read it and fix.

Yep. The kdenlive.org is certainly out of date.

I have just implemented many of your suggestions. In particular - try the irc page now. I kept the page height at 500 in the end because a) the captcha worked for me at that height and b) 1500 made the data entry box scroll off the bottom of the screen so you could not see the action in the main window.

I think work needs doing on https://kdenlive.org/Contribution%20man ... -templates
and
https://kdenlive.org/contribution-manua ... g-profiles

because I think these are not shared how they used to be.

Vpinion or JBM - can you update that info ?

Thanks for your response.
Yes, now it loads via https, but no, irc iframe is still not usable.
When you click on reCAPTCHA while just normal browsing, then it accepts even without a confirmation question. But try to open a private window in your browser.
I do not know how for you, but for me it is not displaying at full size. See attached screenshots.

Sometimes it displays question, but answer button is not visable, and another time question is invisible, but button is visible. And as you can see, I cannot scroll.

What it looks like for me

I can get it to work.

I am in the chrome browser.

But it also works from me in firefox.

I have set it to 750 to see if this helps you.

For now, it is working correctly in Firefox for me. Height of iframe is just exact minimum.
In chromium it is working too, but only if I do not zoom your page. If I zoom it, I will get the same as on your second screenshot.
Maybe you can just add attribute scrolling="yes" to that iframe? I tried to apply that attribute manually, but it did not take effect.

Ok. I added the scrolling. Not sure it is going to help though because I don't see it scrolling until after I get past the capcha.
When I stuck it back to 500 high it did not scroll and I was missing part of the capcha. So it is back at 750 with scrolling on also.

Hello again, ttguy!
Ok, I think it is anyway better than was. And here I bring another portion of cleaning =):

Strange css style for displaying lists. See for example this page. And as you can see, there are four warnings due to images are loaded over http, but not https. What about moving info about supported formats to userbase?

Contribute -> How to share your title templates -> browse the list of templates. Two templates are empty (delete them), and one (your's) is not empty, but not a file presented (create a file to download). In kdenlive you are not able to download new titles via menu. And you cannot add your template to kdenlive.org, due to access is denied and the same about sharing rendering profiles. What about moving this feature to kde-files.org (transitions are hosted there) ?
What about making a single page FAQ (dropdown list) insted of many links on contribute tab?
Remove How to build a Debian live CD with Kdenlive due to link is broken
Remove https://kdenlive.org/contribution-manua ... ed-project due to links are useless and contains strange info instead and by the way, that to lists are the same.
Rename "Help" tab. Its address is "page-not-found" which is confusing. More of that, if you try to go to non existing page you are not redirected to this "page-not-found", so that twices the state. What about making new tab called "Bugs -> redirect to bugs" and "Wiki -> redirect to userbase"? Also, if this page is duplicate of this, then I think kdenlive.org's page can be removed safely.

Fixed the http vs https thing. I dunno what to do about the style sheet at this point. The supported formats stuff it fairly out of date. Kdenlive pretty much supports whatever ffmpeg supports AFAIK.

Yep. This is broken. I have put a note to that effect. This is not such a useful feature anyway. I don't think people lose too much sleep about this. One day I might look at fixing it. But it needs programing skills.

Too much like hard work. -translation. I am too lazy.

Laptander wrote:Remove How to build a Debian live CD with Kdenlive due to link is broken

Done

Done

Not sure how to make tabs on drupal at this point

It could be removed. But no harm in having it in two places.
