I guess we should set up some concrete goal - simply check price of card wherever you are, some model that will not be high end but also that will be good enough to make some testing and that can be use for lets say at least one year from now. Something decent but not extravagant. Little website with counter would be great - then just spread the word, make a paypal donations... Never did this sort of thing but I guess keeping it simple should work. We need card - lets buy us a card

Agreed! Looks like paypal has a widget for that purpose, they charge a percentage, but I don't know any alternative that is completely free.
https://personal.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/ ... _media_app But if you don't have time to setup whatever is needed, I would still be willing to send some money. |

I'd imagine even a bottom end card should do the job. I'm using a GeForce 9600 GT which was mid/low end 5 years ago, and that runs Krita fine (with the exception of the issue at hand). Maybe even a second hand one might be an option? I'd gladly donate this one, except I'm not sure when I'll be upgrading so it could be a bit of a wait... |

I should have some older card lying around as well - sadly sending it from Mexico would cost me more then actually donating some money :/

OK, I dont see anything happening so... I just sent you guys 8Euro which makes for 11 bucks for a good start. I wish I could more, seriously. Anyone that can help - just go to:
http://krita.org/support-krita and sent devs whatever you can. I am sure that boudewijn will make good use of that. After all we are JUST trying to but a card - it should take very few donations to complete that goal, and we can gain that amazing software fully working under Windows! I also made this little info that you may start sharing on social media pages to rise awareness. Lets do that guys and gals! ![]() [edit]Yet another update of Nvidia drivers, 331.65. Problem with OpenGL in Krita persists. [edit2] I also sent message to teksyndicate.com. MAYBE they can help to spread the word or are willing to donate some card to Krita Foundation, who knows. OK guys, I ran out of ideas ![]() |

Or maybe ask directly for hardware donations, sometimes people have hardware around. Just put up which series of hardware would be needed for testing.

Today I installed new nvidia drivers(331.65)
The previous(311.06) were really old(but working well with Krita). now opengl doesn't work anymore. I can't see the canvas and the strokes,if I disabled opengl the canvas start to be visible. Maybe in the new drivers some old opengl function it's not supported anymore? |

At first I was like "NO! thats a really weak card!" but then I realized that this isnt for best performance in games here, you will not play Crisis3 on it (or... will you? ![]() Personally I am working (and playing) on older 550Ti with 1GB ram. It works just fine. How about checking some sort of e-bay there? Prices are certainly better on those portals. I wish I knew Dutch so I could look for some deals, but even my japanese is stronger (and it aint strong at all ![]() My opinion is - just about any modern nvidia card will do for your purpose. Any other voices in discussion? |

No... I wouldn't be playing games. But on the other hand, I'd need to be able to handle biggish images in Krita to properly test stuff.

You could compare specs with any Radeon card you have. That Nvidia card seems to have rather "slow?" memory.
P.S.: I've sent 20€. |
