Re: New Release Ready for Testing

I was unable to install this build on my machine. I get "the installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory". There is no option on the installer to run it as administrator. Any ideas? Also, I find it kind of unhelpful that test builds will overwrite "official" builds. I like to test out updates but I rather like it when I have a working "stable" build.

I'm not sure why you'd get that notification -- I haven't seen it myself. Which version did you download -- x86 or x64? As for stable versions, at the moment all windows builds are ongoing, unstable builds from the development branch. When we release Krita 2.8 end of this year, there'll be a stable version.

I downloaded the x64 version. I'm really looking forward to trying this out so I'm a bit bummed to be having problems. :)

Nice job guys, Krita gets better and better with every release.
just took the new version to a test run and found some minor bugs.

1. The sponge_texture, texture_hair, texture_leaves_fuzzy and some other brushes spining like a propeller when my pen is just hovering over the surface.
2. none of the alchemy brushes have any visible cursor.
3. when you double tap the "D" key the Andvanced Color Selector will show that you have selected white instead of black.

OpenGl is enabled and i`m running a fairly low end machine:
Windows 7 32bit
4 Gb Ram
Radeon 4850HD

P.S: is it possible to change some of the sliders? In the Specific Color Selector,Color selector(where you select the value) i can barely see those tiny arrows.
It would be really nice if they were a little biger like in the levels editor.

I'm experiencing some issues with missing strokes on my tablet. The previous version I had was 2.7.8.10, where I first noticed the problem, and upgrading to this one didn't help.

Specifically, if I press really faintly, drag the stylus across the tablet, and then very slowly increase the pressure, Krita will fail to notice it. I haven't seen it happen with other software, I but just got this tablet and haven't really gotten the chance to use it with anything else yet. I suppose it could also be some issue with the tablet itself.

Using:
Windows 7 professional 64 bit
Krita x64 2.7.8.25
Wacom Bamboo Fun Pen & Touch (Model CTH-670) (driver version 5.3.2-1)

Should "Snap to grid" be working fine? I can't get any brush or path to snap :-\

Also, the Rulers indicator are offset. It reminds me of the tablet offset bug. Except it happens with the mouse too. The cursor is over a pair of coordinates, but the Rulers show completely offset markings.

Only vector objects snap properly to the grid: for raster tools, there's the assistants. (And we want to fix this, too...) As for the rulers, that's an itty-bitty bit broken, I guess. But it's the same on Linux and Windows...

Re: New Release Ready for Testing

Hi :)

So definitely, these last few days I've been putting Krita to the test in production. I had to create some textures for 3D models, and I've found a couple issues that where consistently repeated.

1) Filters: Only tried a couple of Blurs --> Gaussian Blur and Blur - What happens is that the preview while the filter popup is there is broken. The layer affected by the filter would show the proggress bar going from 0 to 100% over and over, but only displaying the result for a split second, before showing again the original image.

2) When I rotate the canvas and zoom in, the performance would decrease significantly (to the point where it's impossible to paint). Only happens when I rotate the canvas with Shift+Space. If the canvas is aligned to 90º angles, it works normally. If it's rotated but zoomed out, it also works nicely.

If it's of some use, here are my system specs:
OS: Windows 8.1
CPU: Intel i7
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 590

Thanks! And for the most part, it have worked very nicely so far (only crashed once in over two whole days using it), working with lots of layers and 4k images... god job! :D

Did you enable opengl when testing zoom/pan/rotate? That makes a huge amount of difference for the smoothness.

I need to check whether the filter previews work correctly on windows... Last time I checked on Linux, they were mostly fine.

I recorded a video of a quick painting I did with Krita in Windows 8.1

Here I share the video and some thoughts about Krita. Thanks!

I found it accidentally yesterday and I loved it, then posted it all over Krita's channels -- from facebook to twitter, from g+ to tumblr :-),

Yet another build...

http://heap.kogmbh.net/downloads/krita_x86_2.7.8.29.msi
http://heap.kogmbh.net/downloads/krita_x64_2.7.8.29.msi

Changes since the last build, two weeks ago:

* layer mirroring rewritten (no more rounding bugs, 4-5 times faster)
* disabled g'mic (crashes on Windows due to stack size limitations)
* lots of improvements to the crop tool, thanks to Michael Martini
* fix an issue with odd-sized brushes
* fix showing marching ants over a group layer
* fix brush outline of tools that do not provide one
* fix outline of too big brushes
* fix the cursor for all non-brush tools
* fix the layout of lots of dialogs, including image size, thanks to Juan Palacios
* fix a crash when using the sketch_ink_big brush
* save lots and lots of memory when switching brushes
* save 50% of memory usage when loading patterns
* load all resources (brushes, presets, gradients, patterns) in the background directly on startup
* Add new default shortcuts for colorpicking:
Ctrl + LeftClick --- Pick from merged image to Fg color
Ctrl + Alt + LeftClick --- Pick from current layer to Fg color
Ctrl + RightClick --- Pick from merged image to Bg color
Ctrl + Alt + RightClick --- Pick from current layer to Bg color
* Fix a possible crash on saving, thanks to Friedrich Kossebau
* Add global tablet move envet throttling, making all non-painting tools more responsive when used with a tablet
* Make it possible to use other units than pixel in the modify selection outline dialogs
* Fix the subpixel precision offset problem in the color smudge paintop
* Fix memory leak when scaling layers
* Fix bugs with clone layers.
* Make Enter apply the transform again in the transform too.
* Make it possible to delete shapes again
* Improve opengl performance (but probably not fix issues with radeon cards)
* Fix painting in Krita Sketch or Sketch mode of Gemini (Sketch and Gemini are now in the installer, but there are no default shortcuts on the desktop)

These bugs were fixed:

326895
326895
328156
327571
313686

327569
327582
327595
327319

I'll ask Ghevan to prepare an XP build tonight.

In Windows 8 64-bit, I can't seem to open or create anything with this newest build... Krita just hangs.

Hm... Maybe try to remove the AppData/Local and AppData/Roaming krita/kde directories. I've tested both builds on a clean laptop and could open and create images without trouble.
