Thanks to Ghevan who spent a week or so working on an XP build, there's now an installer for XP ready for testing. There are some limitations: no vectorization with Vc, no OpenEXR and the array clones plugin is disabled for now.
Check it out at http://www.valdyas.org/~boud/krita_x86_2.7.8.70.msi And please report your experiences. Note that you need service pack 3! If it works for most people, I will put it up on the public download page as well. |

Hello, just some pointers after installing this build in all my windows XP PCs: An updated windows XP is needed to make krita install. If the installer complains about the version of windows installer (in case you had automatic updates off for over 4 years) you need at least Windows installer 4.5 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8483#
It's working great on a Genius tablet Core Duo processor. And runs quite nice on a Tecra M4 toshiba wacom tabletPC. I made a little pic to test the build http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa63/phghevan/13-illust/krita-xp_001_net.png No fatal bugs to report from my experience. And thanks boud for your patience in explaining me how to build it ![]()

No problem with the installation, but I got this message:
"This application has failed to start because MSVCP100.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem," And Krita won't run, same result after re-install... ![]() |

@sangerzonvolt
I make the builds and test them on another machine. Normally I make one paint before consider the build suitable for release. But I had to update a lot of windows to get krita working on the spare Xp machine as it was 2 years out of use. What I have found online is that you need Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555 I don't remember installing this, explicitly, but I did install many updates for .NET 4 framework from windows update. I have a new build ready for testing, I'll investigate why is asking the library on some systems Hope it helps

It's possible to package the redist files with krita, I do that for the win7/win8 builds. However, the mechanism might have changed between XP and later versions. Check the files in the c2winstaller/res/wix_snippets directory.
It's a fairly safe bet that someone with XP will have had their system for a long time and will have installed lots of stuff already, which brings with it the msvc redistributatables, but apparently it's not 100% ![]() |

My local disk(C:) is full so I use disk (D:), could you make it possible to choose the destination of the files? I use a 10 years old win xp laptop to edit pictures etc. B.t.w. I would apprentice if you could make Vector available.

There is new XP build now as well: http://heap.kogmbh.net/downloads/krita_ ... .7.9.4.msi
I don't know how to fix the WIX definition to make the install location configurable. You can however copy the entire krita install dir whereever you want if you afterwards open a command prompt and go into that directory and execute "env.bat kbuildsycoca4". Then you can remove the original install location. I'm not sure I get your question about Vector. |

Thanks to boudewijn, the new XP build (2.7.9.5) allows to select the install folder.
