Connecting with other artists?

Wed Mar 19, 2014 12:51 pm
I think I read somewhere that krita users can connect in some way that enables them to draw TOGETHER on the same painting at the same time--like a paint chat! Is it true? If so, please share with me how it is done?

That's not possible.

Thank you for clearing that up. By any chance, does anyone know of a program that does make it possible? Drawing and collaborating with other artists in real time can be a lot of fun and incredibly educational. It was once a feature of Open Canvas (like 7+ years ago), but I think it only existed in their original version and it was in Japanese!

Thanks. I'm not sure if it's quite as high resolution and one on one as I'm looking for, but I signed up for an account because it does look like a fun way to draw with friends. See, opencanvas used to let users connect on one single drawing (and at a printable resolution) privately between the user's computers. So, it was a good way to, say, give an art class to a homeschooled child from across the country. There were lots of professional applications for the technology. You could work on projects together, sketch a commission for a customer and allow that customer to watch the sketch process, teach art techniques interactively, or just work on high res group pics together. I only very recently downloaded Krita and it looks like a FANTASTIC art program. It has a natural feel and so many wonderful brushes! I LOVE it so far. However, if in the course of developing it you could somehow add this feature, that feature would have many valuable uses.

For collaborative painting you could also try Drawpile http://drawpile.sourceforge.net/. The thing is, I haven't been able to use it myself as it needs QT5 for compile in linux. But for windows there are zip versions and they have ubuntu ready packages
