Brush choice and configuration

Mon Apr 14, 2014 8:41 pm
Hello

I am a new user of Krita on Windows 7.

I would like some advices to choose brushes and to configure them.
Especially, I'd like to know how to avoid darker color at line intersections like this :

Thanks a lot for your help.

The darker color happens because you're painting at less than 100% opacity. Set the brush to be 100% opaque and have the opacity not assigned to, e.g. the pressure sensor, then select the mid-gray color you want.

Thank you for your answer.

So, if I want to control the opacity with the pressure of my pen, I can't avoid darker color when lines are overlapping ?
How do you blend your colors ? With my exemple, you take a "finger" tool and blend colors at the intersections ?

Hi flexx,
welcome to the forum!

Krita has many different brush categories, each one with a special set of functions.
For blending, you want to use a "color smudge" brush. Several premade brush presets come with krita, usually named "mix_". You can find these in the brush presets docker.
If you want to experiment further or fine tune a brush, you can always go to the brush creator and try out different settings. When you open the brush creator panel, at the left side there is a list with the available brush categories. Choose "color smudge" - the one with an icon of a red-to-yellow gradient - and start experimenting. If you want a brush that blends but lays no new color, just uncheck the "color rate".

Hope this helps:)

Fore more information on the brushes and other Krita functions, visit Krita.org

Good luck!
