Hi everyone !

I would like to know if this following problem is known:

When i use an airbrush with my Intuos tablet, it doesn't build up color, it just behaves like a normal brush.
But if i use it with the mouse, as long as i click the color keeps "piling up".

With the wacom, there's only one initial splash of color, and then nothing more, unless i move the pen or lift up and press again.

Now, even weirder:
If i open the "Edit brush settings" panel, even if i don't do anything at all there, the very next time i press down the pen on the canvas, the behaviour is fine, the color adds up like it should!
But only THIS one time ! All other subsequent tries fail.

If you want i think i could create a little video showing the problem…

I use Krita 2.8.2 64 on Windows 7 64 bits with Intuos 3 drivers 6.3.4-3

I had also trouble with the airbrush mode. After playing around with the airbrush settings, I found out that between 1-7 it works, building up more in smaller numbers. If I go beyond 7 the airbrush mode does not work.

is that with a realy wacom airbrush tool, or with an ordinary stylus?

I only use the stylus. I used to own the airbrush, but i didn't like it at all…

The curious thing is that the behaviour with the mouse is OK, and even better, it is OK ONCE when the properties editor is open…

Okay, I went to check with my own intuous 3 I had left at my sister's, as promised.

I tested both on her computer(Windows 7 64bit) and my computer(Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 64bit), and the good news is: It has nothing to do with the OS.

The Bad news is: It's Wacom Intuous 3 specific. Both devices show the same problem.
From my testing, I get the impression that the problem is with the events thrown away from the Intuous. Where my Penabled screen(Wacom ISDv4 E3) gives a smooth airbrush enabled build-up, the Intuous 3 seems to hamper. As well, the Intuous 3 seems to move the cursor around a lot. After setting the brush-precision to '1', the airbrush seems to work better on the Intuous, but it's still not as smooth as the ISDv4.

It should be noted that, of course, the ISDv4 E3 screen is much lower in precision than the intuous. It would be nice if people using a Intuous 4 or whatever could weight in.

EDIT: Bugreport here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334282. For people who had experienced this problem, add yourself to the CC list, so that changes and updates to the bug will be sent directly to your e-mail inbox!

Thanks a lot for experimenting with that TheraHedwig !

Do you think something can be done on Krita's side ? Or is this a WACOM problem ?
I do think it could be repaired on Krita's side as I do not experience anything of the sort with GIMP for instance…

Hello krita folks.

This is my first post here. I originally posted about this problem on blenderartists.org, Gwenouille posted about it here and sent me a PM. I also experience this problem with the airbrush using a Bamboo pen and touch. This is the previous generation Bamboo that Wacom now confusingly calls Intuos.

My specs
Bamboo Pen and Touch
Windows 7 64bit
krita 2.8.2
Nvidia 450

thanks

Ah, well, I actualy posted on BA the current status of the bug, because I was trying to reach you.
The low-down is that the precision of the wacom-tablets is too high, which makes it so they keep reporting move events. Aibrush doesn't work till you keep the stylus still, and the super-precise move events of the tablets make it impossible to keep still.
So there's a suggestion to change airbrush behaviour completely in the bug-report comments.

My personal preference lies in time-based dab-drawing as that's most similar to how a real airbrush would work, but I'm not an expert on using the brush, so...
