(Here is what I did) -Create a vector object -Copy object -Paste object -Deselect both objects -Select one object -Image/Rotate/Mirror image horizontally (Result) Both objects rotated. I wanted and expected just the selected object to rotate. How can I make that happen? dashtwo |

I have no clue what you did wrong there? Are you sure only one is deselected? For me tis method works fine.

"...For me tis method works fine."
Thanks for your reply. Now I see it doesn’t matter whether the 2 objects were both created separately or 1 is a copy/paste of the original. And it doesn’t matter whether just 1 object is selected or NO object is selected, the result of selecting “Image/Rotate/Mirror image horizontally” will always be the same. No matter how many objects are on that layer they will ALL mirror horizontally whether selected or not, because it is the entire image/layer that is mirroring and not just the objects. I used “Image/Rotate/Mirror image horizontally” to try to mirror horizontally just 1 object, because there is no other possible option to do so. Also, Image/Rotate includes Rotate and Mirror, but Layer/Rotate only includes Rotate. Mirror comes directly below Layer. I wonder why Image and Layer were set up differently since they both do exactly the same things. So, my conclusion is that it is NOT possible to mirror horizontally just 1 object when there is more than 1 vector object on the layer. If you can do it, please let me know how. I found how to rotate a vector object around its vertical axis (that is the z axis in 3D talk) plus other transformations using the “Transform a Layer or a Selection” tool. Try it.

Hi there!
I had the same issue; my solution is to create a new vector layer specifically for mirroring, then I just copy an object, paste it on the mirror layer, mirror the layer, cut the object, then paste it on the right layer. then I'd use the empty vector layer to mirror any subsequent vector object needed (I could use other ways like dragging the width to the other side etc but that's too much hassle compared to just cut, paste, mirror, cut, paste.) I hope a mirror option would be added for single vector objects! ![]() K' |
