Can't install on XP 32 bits

Tue May 20, 2014 10:28 am
Hi. I have tried installing Kryta on my windows XP SP3, but the installer won't let me to do that because it says it only works for Vista, 7 and 8. Do you know where could I find a package that works on Windows XP?

I discontinued those packages. Now that Microsoft no longer supports and maintains XP, anyone really should stop using Windows XP. Please, either use Linux (Wine most probably will run your remaining XP applications just fine) or upgrade your Windows.

I wonder why everyone discontinues support for XP...based on Microsoft statement ? There are still many users of the old system. A single Krita version for XP would be nice. After that, updates could be dropped. Currently, there is no version working on XP, because the windows support was added late. Some companies like Epic Games make their software (Unreal Engine 4) compatible with Windows XP right now...and we are talking about an engine that uses high graphic power. (works better on newer PCs) . They want to support everyone. Why Krita couldn't offer support for XP, at last for a single version?

That Microsoft has stopped releasing updates for Windows XP is plenty reason! There is no legal way to acquire an XP system, there is no way security problems will get fixed... All things come to an end, and it's really time to move on.

We supported XP until Microsoft stopped supporting XP. If we'd still make XP installers, chances are high that they'd get hijacked and repackaged with malware that no XP user would have any defense against.

Give Linux a try, it's a good alternative and it will run Krita faster than Windows ever did.
