I suppose this won't be fixed for 2.9 release.
The bug list hasn't really budged that much this week, so i'm guessing (or hoping) there will a 2.9A release or something. edit: and yes there have been a lot of problems with g'mic, but i think g'mic crashes are considered a special case, could be wrong though. |

Well...
G'Mic is sort of a special case. I finally managed to build all the dependencies for G'Mic on Windows and found that interactive colorize still crashes. The thing is, G'Mic is a research project, and when it works, it is totally cutting edge. When it doesn't, it crashes. I need, to start with, set a stack size of 1GB for G'Mic not to crash on most filters, which means it'll never work on 32 bits Windows. Then, for Interactive Colorize it needs the Unix way of doing threads, not the Windows way. Which we supplied, but didn't get sufficiently debugged. It really is an _awesome_ project, but when using it, you have to realize that you're participating in university-level research into graphics algorithms, not day-to-day bread-and-butter (and a bit of cheese) productivity code. Honestly, I'm amazed that so many of the options work on Windows! |
