After installing Krita 2.9 (x64), a few issues occure listed below.
My version of Windows 8.1 64bit. Tablet Bosto 22U mini, battery pen. After creating a new Krita document, the following occurs: After touching the screen with the pen, 3 screen resolution settings windows pops up. Using the mouse these windows do not pop up. I selected 'do not show' and closing these windows to prevent it from popping up each time I start the program. After drawing with Calligraphy tool, selecting the line with Shape Handling tool to edit the line with Path Editing tool, when dragging a handle, the whole line moves out of place, and moves in the opposite direction while dragging a handle, as if the remainder of the line is not anchored, and repelled by the dragged handle. On dragging the handle back to it's original position, the line returns towards the handle. Cannot delete handles with remove handle tool. Cannot erase part of a Calligraphy line. Sometimes when zooming in and out, the curser has a large , empty pixilated edge around it, and when moving the mouse or pen across the canvas, it creates an empty line as if the canvas is being erased. It disappears after clicking with the mouse. Most of Gmic filters cause Krita to crash |

About the calligraphy shape edition bug, this is a long standing one:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=313913 Also it's not possible to delete handles on calligraphy shapes, this is not supported. (by the way, what do you mean with "remove handle tool" ? There's no tool named like this) As a workaround, if you really need to erase parts of calligraphy lines, best for now is to put your layer in a group with a paint layer on top in erase mode where you can paint to erase what's below. |

Hi everyone,
As regards the G'MIC colorize filter on Windows it should be noted that it has never worked on Windows thus far... On the contrary, it works fine on Linux (Krita 2.9). Unfortunately, many G'MIC filters do not work on Krita 2.9 - Windows (tested tonight on Windows 7 - 64 bit). In addition, I have just tested these *same* G'MIC filters on Linux (Kubuntu 14.10 - 64 bit - KDE desktop) with Krita 2.9 and they all work extremely fine there (no crash whatsoever). *Worst of all*, these same filters worked fine on the previous ZIP version of Krita (beta 3) on Windows - 7 (64 bit). I have tried for instance the filter Array faded (Array & Tiles) and it crashes Krita 2.9 but it works fine on the previous beta 3. Same applies to Chessboards (Array & Tiles) which crashes Krita 2.9 but it works fine on the previous beta 3. etc etc (I am going to open myself a bug report on the Bug tracker regarding all these regressions...) Needless to say, with Gimp 2.8.14 they all work fine both on Windows and Linux. As you know, G'MIC 1.6.1.0 is extremely stable with Gimp but this should be expected because it has always been like that... Unfortunately, on Windows, G'MIC is still quite experimental with Krita ![]() |

I'll add to this say that whenever I change the settings on Krita and click ok it crashes. This works fine under linux (I only wish linux worked perfectly on a Wacom Cintiq Companion).
It'll also forget all the positions of my window dockers. Is there a fix for this? |

No, there's no fix for that, at this moment, because on my six Windows tests systems I don't get a crash when changing settings. However, you might try and see if updating the Intel graphics driver helps you. As far as I remember, the Companion basically an ultrabook without a keyboard, internally, and Intel's drivers went through a very bad patch in 2014. And on none of those systems, Krita forgets the dockers' positions. But if Krita crashes, it won't remember the docker positions, so that might be part of your problem. I haven't got a Companion to tes there, though, only a Hybrid Companion. |

Hi boudewijn thanks for the response -- I suspect some (3rd party) brushes and presets may cause problems. Will try a few things later and try to detail the process.
Thanks, Chris |

The G'Mic filter BW / Interactive Colour crashes Krita all the time. The same filter works OK in the Gimp.
I am on Windows 8.1 and the latest clean install of Krita 2.9.0.1 |

You were spot on about the intel driver -- I installed the lastest version and it's much more stable. It's less snappy than 2.8.3 but I'll see how it goes over the next few weeks. Now to try 3rd party brushes... Chris |

Henrystahle wrote: > The G'Mic filter BW / Interactive Colour crashes Krita all the time. The same filter works OK in the Gimp. > I am on Windows 8.1 and the latest clean install of Krita 2.9.0.1 . At present, there are many G'MIC filters which do not work on Windows (Windows 7 - 8.1 etc). It is mostly a packaging issue related to the Windows systems and the way Krita is built on it. The same G'MIC filters work fine on Linux with Krita 2.9. E.g. Black and White filter with Kubuntu 14.10 (a KDE - Linux distribution): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/309 ... -KRITA.mp4 There is already a bug report opened for this issue and the Krita developers are working hard to fix this ![]() In addition, the way G'MIC 1.6.1.0 is developed and built with Gimp on Windows differes greatly from Krita. This is why G'MIC is working fine on your system right now with Gimp (but again, It only takes some time to fix this issue on Krita as well) ![]() EDIT: On Windows *64 bit* systems there was a bug related to G'MIC 1.6.1.0 (and this problem affected Gimp 2.8.14 as well). More precisely: " On Windows, 'long integer' are still coded with 32bits, even on a 64bits system, that was a part of the problem. I've fixed my source code, and I'll release new G'MIC binaries for Win32/64 and Linux32/64 platforms this afternoon. " This bug has been fixed by David Tschumperlé (the French main developer of G'MIC) who discovered this problem last week and wrote the message abovementioned on the GIMP-Chat Forum. |
